Update: Feb 2011. The History Room has been temporarily taken back by the school and is no longer accessible. Hoover has plans to create a display case but currently none of this is on display.
The Alumni Association has a History Room in the Media Center (Library). You can visit this room any time the school is open. First check in at the main office and get a vistior pass, then go to the Media Center/Library. Ask anyone at the front desk for the Librarian who will give you access to the room. When you first enter the Media Center you will be greeted with an old friend. The statue of "Girl Reading" by Donal Hord was part of the central quad in the old school (donated in 1941), now it is a fixture in the Media Center.

In addition to this statue, take a look in the cabinet under the front desk. Here you will find the model for the Bookie Clark statue. The full size statue is located at the Monroe Clark Middle School at 4388 Thorn St, San Diego (City Heights Area).

So what is in the History Room? As you first enter the door you will see this wall of President Hoover pictures and a letter signed by him while he was still president. I remember seeing the letter in the old library during the early 70's.

Continuing down that wall is a multi panel bulletin board with clippings, programs, pins, and other stuff. Each panel has materials from different years. Those red books underneath on the shelf are all the Cardinal school newspapers!

Another section of the wall has these photos from various club events and dances.

At the far end in the middle of the floor is this display case. In here you will find pictures of past principals and school rings.

On the back wall is the sports collection. Several different photographs on the wall as well as those cartons contain the programs from all the Hoover games and games held at Hoover over the years.

There is a cabinet full of yearbooks from every class year. I can see two of mine on the lower shelf.

Now headed out of the room and looking back towards the door, you see the collection of cheer leading megaphones, awards and pictures.
